THE AMAZON
The Amazon is the worlds largest rain forest. It spans eight countries and is an incredibly bio diverse ecosystem. It is a massive region that, according to the World Wildlife Fund, is home to one in ten of the worlds species and approximately fifty percent of the planets remaining tropical rainforests. More than 20 percent of the world's oxygen is produced in the Amazon Rainforest. Despite these statistics, close to 20 percent of the Amazon Rainforest been cut down in the past 40 years. Furthermore, an area equivalent to about six football fields is destroyed each minute.
