As a team, we decided to focus in on our essential question, How is the deforestation of the Amazon Rainforest, impacting South America, because the amazon is one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on our planet full of nature’s wildlife. Due to deforestation, the amazon’s ecosystem and the environment as a whole is being greatly affected in many negative ways. Some of the last true wild places on earth are disappearing before our eyes. Because we care about our environment, and are constantly curious about its many beautiful places, we wanted to learn more about the impact deforestation is putting on animals, air and water, in order to educate ourselves, others, and try and make a difference. Initially, we planned on asking a question that addressed all types of effects and factors  involved with deforestation in the Amazon, such as its effects on the ecosystems, water quality, air quality, etc, across of all Southern America. After posing this question, we further developed it to be more specific, as we realized our topic was extremely broad. We did this so we could eventually create a more in depth analysis and conclusion. We decided to focus on sustainability, and what sustainability means in regards to the Amazon. But, even with this topic, we were still exposed to a very wide range of information, so we continued to concentrate our focus, remaining in the topic of sustainability. Finally, we settled on an essential question. We decided to ask what progress has been been made, if any, in the move towards sustainability, in regards to the Amazon rainforest? With this, we began our inquiry.
